THE VALUE OF TRAVEL

Everyone has that one facebook friend who always pops up in your newsfeed, posting updates and photos of their epic travel adventures, giving you the opportunity to live vicariously for an instance through their experiences. The thing is, that could be you, you just having to be willing to step, even better, jump right out of your comfort zone. Your summers at University offer you the perfect chance to explore the world, to escape those mundane English summers and experience new cultures. The world's a pretty specatcular place, so explore, travel and discover.

5 Reasons You Should Travel the World

1.   It will look amazing on your CV

Apart from the incredible experiences and epic memories you’ll make whilst traveling, you’ll also add some real substance to your CV.  Employers love international work or volunteer experience. Whatever job you undertake whilst you're travelling, whether it's a placement or just something to keep the $$$ flowing in, the fact that you took the initiative to travel in the first place is a desirable quality to have. As well as this, you can learn a new language, build on your team skills and watch your confidence skyrocket. All awesome skills that you gained in an amazing way, which will benefit your studies at LJMU and really make your stand out from the crowd in your next job interview.

2. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people

Travelling is a great opportunity to meet people from all over the world. You'll form unique bonds with them that can only be formed when two people are thrown together outside their comfort zones. Meeting people from new cultures, with different backgrounds, opens your eyes to the world. You’ll change for the better and your confidence will grow.

Memories with your travel companions will follow you fondly forever. In some cases, you might even go for a reunion trip back to the city you and your travel buddies loved so much! Whilst you can keep in contact with those you love back home, there's nothing quite like meeting up with a friendly face in a foreign city.

3. You will learn so much more about yourself

Travelling is such an incredible experience, but when you're actually in the midst of it, it can be a little scary. Up until this point, many of you will only have ever really known the security of school and a routine that hasn't changed a great deal. Travelling forces you to fend for yourself and make decisions that could have real consequences. This is your chance to really figure out what it is you want to do and who it is you want to be. Traveling gives you new levels of confidence and you’ll return with a mature head on your shoulders and a new sense of who you want to be.

4.   You'll broaden your horizons

There's nothing that quite gives you a lust for life like going on an adventure. You may have been on a few family holidays, or with a group of mates, but up until now you’ve just been a tourist. From this point on you’ll be a traveller. The world is an awfully big place, take the road less travelled, explore new places and sunsets. Embrace new experiences, they can teach you so much about the world you might have never even fathomed. Immersing yourself into a brand new culture and city can do wonders for your outlook on life. Learning about new cultures, languages and even the people that inhabit the city will teach you more life lessons than anything ever could.

5.   You’ll be braver

When you’re young you’ll feel pretty much invincible, and it’s the combination of that drive and belief that creates the perfect mindset you need to travel. Fill your summers with adventures, put money aside, you have your whole life to focus on Money, a house and a car. Be brave, book your trip and go. You may be a little scared, and a little apprehensive but you’ll also be ridiculously excited. You’ll mostly have no idea what to expect and that feeling alone will make you more spontaneous and in a constant state of craving adventure. So what are you waiting for? We’ll see you all at the departure gate!
