1. Apply Online
The first step is simple: just hit the apply button and follow the three simple steps to register your free application. You’ll then have your own Camp Leaders profile which you can begin filling out.
2. Get Interviewed
Once you’ve started your application, one of the lovely Camp Leaders team members will give you a call to arrange your interview which will take place in a town or city close to you. It’s a fairly relaxed interview, usually in a coffee shop or library with one of our National Team of interviewers who have all been to camp themselves. The interview has a £49 deposit fee, which is refunded if you are unsuccessful, but don’t stress, over 95% of people interviewed are accepted onto the program. May the odds be ever in your favour...
3. Complete Your Application
At this point, it’s just a case of you completing your application and getting all of your required documents in, including your police check, your medical form and your references.
4. Attend A Preparation Day
At Camp Leaders, we run prep days up and down the country between the months of March and May to get you ready for your summer in the States. It’s also a great chance for you to meet people who will be going to the same camp as you.
6. Get Your Visa
You’ll be going over to the States on a J1 Cultural Exchange visa, so you’ll need arrange your interview with the American embassy and head to London to get your visa, but not to worry, we’ll be there with you on the day to help you through the whole thing. If you’re in Northern Ireland, you can also head to Belfast, but who doesn’t love a day out in London?
7. Fly to the States
You’ve completed the application process. All’s you’ve gotta do now is hop on that plane and let the memories begin. You won’t be flying alone though, because we match you on the same flight as people going to your camp, so you’ll be making best mates before you’ve even left for the States.
