Emily's TEFL Prague Experience

Emily is a Sport Science Student who is keen on progressing into teaching once she graduates. With this in mind, taking part in our TEFL course in Prague seemed the perfect first step for Emily to gain some teaching experience. To help fund her trip Emily applied for the LJMU Go Global Fund, which covered her entire program fee. Nice work Emily.

Emily spent four incredible weeks in Prague from late May. Here’s what she had to say about her Smaller Earth experience.

What was the highlight of your trip?

The highlight of my trip was definitely the people I met. I lived with a lovely American girl and the students we taught were from the Czech republic, Slovakia and even some from Ukraine! You met such a variety of people all different ages and backgrounds.

How has the trip impacted you and will this have a positive effect on your studies?

Before doing the TEFL course I had never been away from home for longer than 10 days. It gave me the confidence to try a new culture and not just visit it on a holiday, but live in it and embrace it! I think this will impact my studies by encouraging me to try new things and to take any opportunities that come towards me no matter where in the world they are based.

Would you recommend this experience to other LJMU students?

I would definitely recommend this experience to other LJMU students, it gives you the opportunity to travel but still in a structured environment, so perfect for first time travellers like myself.
